FAQ

Google Pay is a digital payment service that allows you to make payments using your mobile device. Google Wallet is the digital wallet app where you can store your payment cards securely for use with Google Pay.

The main advantages are:

  • You don’t need to carry your physical card or take it out of your wallet or bag when making payments.
  • High security: payments use a digitalized card token instead of your actual card number, which is never revealed.
  • Terminals that accept Google Wallet payments can be identified via the Google Maps app.

Security and privacy are built into every aspect of Google Wallet to protect your card information. When you tap to pay with an Android phone, Google Wallet does not share your card number with merchants, keeping your payment information safe.

Note: Make sure your phone is secured with authentication methods like PIN, fingerprint, or face recognition.

To start using Google Wallet, your device must have:

  • Android operating system installed
  • Internet access
  • NFC (Near Field Communication) support

Note: Due to Apple restrictions, Google Pay currently does not work on iOS devices.

Depending on the payment amount entered at the point of sale (POS) terminal, there are two possible payment methods:

  • For amounts up to 40 EUR, it is sufficient for the phone (screen) to be unlocked and brought near the POS terminal. With a simple tap, the payment will be processed automatically.
  • For amounts between 40 and 500 EUR, the phone (screen) must be unlocked and brought near the POS terminal. After the amount is read, transaction verification using the card PIN is required. Once authenticated on the phone, a light tap on the POS terminal will complete the payment.

Note: Authentication may also be required for amounts under 50 EUR, depending on Google’s evaluation of Android device usage.

Payments are carried out via NFC technology, so no internet connection is required.
