Pristina, 29 March 2006 – ProCredit Bank is the first bank in Kosovo that in May 2002 has issued transactions cards, which were initially offered as national debit cards, the instalment of ATMs and POS terminals in businesses throughout the country.
The second step in promoting the use of cards was repeated in 2003 when ProCredit Bank for the first time introduced internationally-recognized cards - MasterCard and Maestro.
Last year, ProCredit Bank has reached an agreement with VISA International to launch VISA cards (debit and credit); these cards are maximally secured with the advanced CHIP that is issued for the first time in Kosovo by ProCredit Bank.
Card payments are a safer alternative than cash, and the cards equipped with CHIP, as the VISA cards issued by ProCredit, highlight a higher level of safety for card payments.
By introducing these cards, ProCredit Bank concludes that it has made a valuable contribution by bringing their clients very close to the global community and a non-cash society which is imperative for a successful economy.
So far, ProCredit Bank numbers over 140.000 clients who own debit cards or Maestro and Visa Electron, while 5,000 clients have credit cards, most of them use MasterCard (credit cards), and the rest use VISA Classic (credit cards).
With this ProCredit Bank assures are its credit cardholders (VISA and MASTER) that there hasn’t been a single case of misuse of their cards. However, one must also emphasize that we have noticed attempts to carry out transactions with misused cards from foreign banks, but such attempts are immediately eliminated because the technology used by our bank detects their invalidity and the transaction is refused.
Moreover, all operations of cards issued by ProCredit Bank are carried out at the processing centre in Frankfurt Am Main, and every card operation is at the standards of European Union developed countries.
