Agriculture in the focus of ProCredit Bank

Pristina, 15 March 2006 - ProCredit Bank this year once again turns its attention to the agricultural sector by financially supporting all those that are engaged in agriculture, agro-businesses and rural businesses.

Through agricultural loans, ProCredit aims to support and stimulate individuals or small farms in their initiatives to further develop and strengthen their activities.

The minimal loan is 250 euro, and the rate is determined according to the seasonal sales in agriculture. The return of the loan is determined according to the sale of the products.

“Decisions regarding the loans are based on analysis and the nature of the agricultural business,” says Florin Lila, deputy director of ProCredit Bank.

ProCredit Bank, the most successful bank in the country, started issuing loans for agriculture as of 2003, launching thus a new initiative to develop this part of Kosovo’s economy.

So far, ProCredit Bank has disbursed 11,035 loans at a total amount of 24.5 million euros.

“Our bank favours loans for agriculture as one of the best opportunities for investments in Kosovo. Agricultural loans have specific and distinctive features in comparison to other products. We were able to offer such a loan after a thorough analysis of the market

“Offering such loans was possible after a thorough study of the market and the needs of these individuals to further develop their agricultural business,” said Florin Lila.

To raise public awareness about this loan, ProCredit has made direct steps in directly promoting this highly important service by raising stands on market days throughout Kosovo. ProCredit Bank viewed this as a good opportunity to inform this category of individuals, bearing in mind the fact that ProCredit is among the first banks that have offered agricultural loans.

One must recall that ProCredit Bank has rapidly increased the amount of loans every year. In 2003 the bank gave 80 million euros in loans, in 2004 – 106 million, and last year 155 million without including short-term loans.

This year, ProCredit Bank plans to increase the beef up the amount of loans to 200 million euros.
