Prishtine, February 5, 2010 - ProCredit Bank the first bank after the war in Kosovo started its operations in January 2000 with just one branch and 24 committed young professionals.
“In the view of the fragile operating environment and the related risks, setting up a bank in Kosovo in 2000 was an enormous challenge. The ongoing ethnic conflicts and uncertain political future of the region deterred other major investors from following suit” remembers Dr. Klaus Glaubitt, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
From its onset ProCredit tried to promote values such as providing banking services in a fair and transparent manner and focusing on provising socially responsible banking services. The bank strived to provide financial services for all Kosovars, regardless of their socio-economic status.
“In Kosovo we have demonstrated that is possible to be commercially very successful while keeping a clear development focus in our operations” said Mr.Philip Sigwart Chief Executive Officer of ProCredit Bank.
Nowadays, ProCredit is a familiar name in the financial industry in Kosovo. The bank has been leading the market for 10 consecutive years, by ensuring professional service and applying a culture of open communication with our clients in order to provide the most appropriate product or service for them.
“Hardly anybody could have imagined back in 2000 what the bank would achieve within ten years: now, in January 2010, ProCredit Bank is the largest financial institution in Kosovo with total assets exceeding EUR 734 million. Its loan portfolio has reached EUR 471 million, while customer deposits total EUR 628 million. The bank has a network of 62 branches and a staff of 1,200 employees, each of whom is committed to serving people from all walks of life, but especially small-scale entrepreneurs and farmers”. – said Dr. Klaus Glaubitt, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
During these 10 years ProCredit Bank has shown commitment to help the community in which we operate, by supporting different cultural and educational projects. Now to continue this commitment, ProCredit Bank is proud to announce that a donation will be made to National Library, so it can set up new technical capacities and a better infrastructure in the National Library’s Training Centre, which is being used for professional advancement of librarians who work in libraries in all the regions in Kosova. Part of this donation is also the establishment of the Economic’s books corner in the library. By means of this sponsorship, the library will have an additional selection of economic books that will be made available to all students seeking to improve their knowledge about the economy.
