Prishtina 15 July, 2012 - The DokuFest jury has given its first ever Best Environmental Film award to Brilant Pireva. Brilant’s film competed in the documentary film festival’s new category alongside other amateur films. The Best Environmental Film award, which comes with prize money of EUR 1,000, was announced at an award ceremony on 15 July.
The new category, an initiative between ProCredit Bank and DokuFest, gives citizens the chance to address issues of pollution or environmental protection from their own perspectives.
Entries varied in theme from environmental degradation to community-supported eco-friendly initiatives and green-oriented schools. Some films depicted serious environmental pollution.
The Best Environmental Film category will be a part of future DokuFests, and aims to address environmental issues in Kosovo and create awareness among the broader public during the festival
