Podujeva, 05 October 2012 – Located beside the River Llap, in the center of the town of Podujeva, 3432m² of public space has been made green and equipped with seats and rubbish bins – transforming this space into a relaxing park for Podujeva’s residents.
This investment by ProCredit Bank was done in cooperation with the Municipality of Podujeva and the citizen’s initiative “Let’s Clean Kosovo”.
The new park in Podujeva on the one hand reflects the need for more green public space in Kosovo and on the other, the environmental contribution of a responsible financial institution.
“Beyond our contribution to a cleaner and greener environment in Kosovo, what is important is public awareness about maintaining the park and not polluting or damaging it”, said the Deputy Director General of ProCredit Bank Eriola Bibolli.
Investment of this kind will be realized in other towns in Kosovo, and especially in public spaces identified and proposed to ProCredit Bank in local environmental initiatives, in coordination with municipal officials.
While residents of Podujeva now have a park in which to spend their free time, it is essential that the saplings planted in the new park in Podujeva be available for generations to come.
This initiative in Podujeva was part of the campaign to raise environmental awareness by ProCredit Bank, “It’s our country. Let’s keep it clean”.
ProCredit Bank believes that the quality of life is inevitably linked to the quality of the environment where we live and work. So the campaign emphasizes the importance of living in a clean environment and its influence on health, always based on the view that protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility.
An integral part of this campaign is investing in green spaces in each region of Kosovo, where ProCredit Bank will plant some hundred saplings, and then will put in place seats and rubbish bins creating relaxing places for local residents to use and enjoy.
ProCredit Bank asks that we keep clean the environment which surrounds us, acting responsibility and not polluting it.
