ProCredit Bank certified under ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems)

ProCredit Bank has become the first bank in the country to be certified under ISO 14001:2015, the internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems. The certificate was issued by the German organisation TÜV Nord Cert GmbH.

“This certification by an independent external company is further proof that our bank has created an environmental management and protection system that complies with local and international regulations. For us this is a step forward and demonstrates that we are meeting environmental standards. The ISO 14001:2015 Certificate confirms our team’s efforts to foster the implementation of environmental legislation and provides additional motivation for taking further action on protecting the environment” declared Ilir I. Aliu, Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board of Directors of ProCredit Bank Kosovo.

ProCredit Bank has implemented these standards by applying environmentally friendly procedures, whose sole purpose is to reduce the environmental impact of its activities. The bank’s initiative has a direct influence on energy saving and at the same time reduces carbon dioxide emissions. In the past two years these activities have enabled us to reduce energy consumption by 24% and internal paper consumption by 60%. We are the first bank with a fleet of ten cars running 100% on electricity which do not pollute the environment with exhaust emissions. It is also worth noting that ProCredit Bank continuously invests in staff training and focuses on creating an infrastructure designed to raise the environmental awareness of its employees, its customers and the general public, as well as supporting people’s initiatives on environmental protection.

In addition to its direct impact, ProCredit Bank also watches out for customers’ impact on the environment and supports them in improving their environmental friendliness. This goes back to 2002, when it started analysing the effect its customers’ activities had on the environment and on society. Today, this environmental and social risk analysis is an inseparable part of the assessment of potential clients, which goes hand in hand with financing investments that serve to improve its clients’ environmental performance.

Since 2009, ProCredit Bank has financed EUR 60 million in “Green” loans, which support investments in energy-efficiency improvements and renewable energy, as well as in other environmental protection measures.
